Description
What am I: Humus Deriva
Encosta da Quinta is a family property, home to Rodrigo Filipe and his Humus wines. Rodrigo is one of the pioneering and most experimental and exciting natural wine producers in Portugal. A self-taught viticulturist, and former civil engineer, he left that career behind to dedicate himself to the vineyards acquired by his grandfather in 1960.
The winery is located in the demarcated region of Óbidos, between the Atlantic Ocean and the Serra dos Candeeiros mountains, north of Lisbon. In this place, the focus is on natural winemaking with local varieties.
With a ruby hue, mineral and vegetal notes take the spotlight in this avant-garde wine, possessing a distinct personality. Deriva da Humus, a red wine hailing from Lisbon, captures the unadulterated purity and mineral essence of its Atlantic terroir. A natural masterpiece, it’s crafted solely from youthful, vibrant Touriga Nacional grapes. Medium-bodied, its texture is both velvety and intricate. Originating from a cool, damp vintage, it underwent 7 days of maceration and matured for 12 months in previously utilised barrels.
