Description
What am I: Peluda Namalga
Peluda is located in the north of Portugal, in the Minho region. It is a multigenerational project, spearheaded by Mariana Pala, with support from her grandfather. Mariana represents a young generation of winemakers who hail from a traditional wine family. This combination creates a dynamic mix of tradition and fresh ideas.
With 17 hectares of vineyards located in Mondim de Basto, Mariana aims to make wines in the spirit of Minho and Vinho Verde. Basto is a hilly terrain with peaks up to 1,000 meters. It is largely cut off from the maritime influences of the Atlantic Ocean. There are cold and rainy winters and hot and dry summers. The Azal Branco grape loves this landscape and does not reach full ripeness until mid-September. Wine made from this grape scores high on the acidity scale yielding fresh wines with flavors of citrus and green apple.
An intensely rich red wine, its hue so profound it will tint your lips. Bold in tannins, this wine showcases a delightful interplay of fruits and minerals. A singular creation, a true representative of the region’s character, it stands unmatched and exclusive. This is a red wine experience unlike any other, unattainable elsewhere. Vinhão, a grape whose skin and pulp both wear shades of crimson, offers a must-try experience.
