What am I: Peluda Suba Pet Nat Branco
Peluda is located in the north of Portugal, in the Minho region. It is a multigenerational project, spearheaded by Mariana Pala, with support from her grandfather. Mariana represents a young generation of winemakers who hail from a traditional wine family. This combination creates a dynamic mix of tradition and fresh ideas.
With 17 hectares of vineyards located in Mondim de Basto, Mariana aims to make wines in the spirit of Minho and Vinho Verde. Basto is a hilly terrain with peaks up to 1,000 meters. It is largely cut off from the maritime influences of the Atlantic Ocean. There are cold and rainy winters and hot and dry summers. The Azal Branco grape loves this landscape and does not reach full ripeness until mid-September. Wine made from this grape scores high on the acidity scale yielding fresh wines with flavors of citrus and green apple.
Most of the vineyards used in making Peluda wines are made up of granite and shale soil. In the wintertime, donkeys and horses graze and provide natural fertilization.
Peluda Suba Pet Nat Branco sparkling wine from Northern Portugal is a sparkler that makes everything right with the world. Fresh, citrusy, and fruit-forward, these bubbles will take you from the afternoon straight through to dinner. Branco and rose are both made, and trust us you want both.
