Description
What am I: Quinta de San Michel Malvasia
Quinta de San Michel is a Lisbon region producer, located in the hills of Sintra above Colares. Janas wines have a unique complexity, thanks to their altitude and to the proximity of the Ocean and the Serra de Sintra, as well as great sun exposure. This microclimate brings special conditions for the production of complex wines, full of freshness and tension, with perfumed and salty aromas, being balanced with a pleasant texture and volume, which allow it to acquire an enormous potential for evolution.
Arinto is one of the most valuable Portuguese white grape varieties; a rebellious variety with a strong personality, in Colares it creates balanced wines with great liveliness, capable of pleasantly stimulating the palate.
Hand-picked, these grapes were destemmed and directly pressed in a pneumatic press with cold static decanting, and fermentation took place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The wine was aged in American oak for 10 months with some soft batonnage and 12 months in bottle.
Quinta de San Michel Malvasia white wine is bright pale yellow color with slightly golden edges. It has great aromatic complexity with aromas of white fruit, peaches, anise, tangerine, and some sea breezes balanced with toast and almond characters. Also present is freshly balanced acidity and some creamy texture. It finishes with salty notes that give this wine a unique complexity. Pairs well with grilled fish, seafood, Asian food with spices, and white meat dishes.
