Description
What am I: Quinta do Romeu Reserva Branco
Quinta do Romeu has belonged to the Menéres family since 1874, and is currently in the hands of the 5th generation. The vineyards, olive groves, cork trees, and two streams coexist in Romeu intertwined in a natural way, forming a living mosaic.
They grow 25 hectares of vineyards that are the northernmost in the demarcated Douro region. Although with the robust character of the Douro, they have the elegance and freshness of this unique place. Romeu has a great dedication to the quality of the grape and, in the cellar, everything happens with a minimum of interference. In 2012 the farm was converted to biodynamics. In Romeu, nothing is flat- neither the landscape, nor the climate, nor the people… nor the aromas!
After manual selection of the clusters, the grapes are co-fermented, with 1/5 of the selection in 500-liter Austrian oak barrels with light toast, and the rest in stainless steel vats with temperature control between 15ºC and 20ºC. It is then aged on fine lees with regular batonnage.
Quinta do Romeu Reserva Branco white wine is brilliant citrine in color, with good intensity and complexity. Stand-out aromas include ripe tree fruits (like apple, peach, and quince), fresh tropical fruits (passion fruit, pineapple), and floral notes.
This wine is dry and creamy with fresh crispy acidity. On the palate, its fruity character is enhanced with a citrus component. Slight mineral touch gives it personality. It is a complex and deep wine with a persistent finish.
