What am I: Quinta do Romeu Rose
Quinta do Romeu has belonged to the Menéres family since 1874, and is currently in the hands of the 5th generation. The vineyards, olive groves, cork trees, and two streams coexist in Romeu intertwined in a natural way, forming a living mosaic. They grow 25 hectares of vineyards that are the northernmost in the demarcated Douro region. Although with the robust character of the Douro, they have the elegance and freshness of this unique place. Romeu has a great dedication to the quality of the grape and everything happens with minimal interference in the cellar.
Red fermentations are made in granite presses, indigenous yeasts, reduced amounts of SO2 used, and wine ages in mostly used barrels. All agriculture at Quinta do Romeu is certified organic. In 2012 the farm was converted to biodynamics. In Romeu, nothing is flat- neither the landscape, nor the climate, nor the people… nor the aromas!
Quinta do Romeu Rose is a pinky peach color with good intensity. The nose is young and exuberant with fresh red fruit such as strawberry and raspberry, along with cherry and a slight floral touch. Dry with a balanced acidity that pairs perfectly with its fruity character.
