What am I: Espera Curtimenta orange wine
Espera Wines is a small, family-run project on just 3 hectares, located in the Alcobaça region of Lisbon, a historic area and with traditions that stem from the legacy left by the Cistercian monks.
This orange wine was made by picking grapes by hand, destemming, and then doing a soft press with spontaneous fermentation without temperature control for 21 days. What is orange wine? It’s a type of white wine made by leaving the grape skins and seeds in contact with the juice, for as little as a few hours to several days or weeks.
Espera Curtimenta orange wine is a light amber color, with a mineral character. On the nose, there are hints of blossoms, apricot, and orange peel. This is all typical of grape variety and style of vinification. Intense and fresh on the palate, crispy texture, with a pleasant finish.
