What am I: Penhó Nomos white blend
Penhó Wines are garagist wines produced from grapes grown at Quinta de Penhó. The Quinta is located Northern Portugal. The family vineyard is currently being converted to organic, and the wine is produced as naturally as possible. Using minimal intervention, they have created unique natural wines with very low sulfite levels.
Every wine is made with two days of maceration before pressing, fermented only using indigenous yeasts. After pressing they remain over the lees with no racking, or bâttonage. No filtration, stabilization, or clarification is carried out. No additional products are used to correct or alter the wine. Everything else varies from wine to wine, but Penhó takes pride in all of its wines. They strive to make them better every year, starting in the vineyard, with their care of the vines.
Penhó Nomos white blend is an old classic with a modern approach. It is made using a blend of Alvarinho and Trajadura. It is a white wine produced using white caste grapes. A pale yellow wine, it is very aromatic, yet very fresh, with well-balanced acidity and high alcohol levels. This wine is fermented and aged for 6 to 12 months in French oak barrels before being bottled.
