Description
What am I: Quinta de San Michel Arinto
Quinta de San Michel is a Lisbon region producer, located in the hills of Sintra above Colares. Janas wines have a unique complexity, thanks to their altitude and to the proximity of the Ocean and the Serra de Sintra, as well as great sun exposure. This microclimate brings special conditions for the production of complex wines, full of freshness and tension, with perfumed and salty aromas, being balanced with a pleasant texture and volume, which allow it to acquire an enormous potential for evolution.
Arinto is one of the most valuable Portuguese white grape varieties; a rebellious variety with a strong personality, in Colares it creates balanced wines with great liveliness, capable of pleasantly stimulating the palate.
As a young wine, Quinta de San Michel Arinto presents citrus notes, sometimes some mineral, being moderately intense. With aging, it develops aromas of honey and kerosene. In the mouth, it is acidic with notes of fruit with excellent complexity. Very fresh, due to its natural acidity, and very intense aroma.
Grapes are harvested manually, in 20kg buckets, and then transported to the winery. After pressing, vinification takes place in stainless steel vats. It is aged for 6 months in American oak barrels and 20 months in bottle.
This white wine pairs well with grilled fish, seafood, and poultry or pork dishes.
