Description
What am I: Quinta do Romeu Especial Branco
Quinta do Romeu has belonged to the Menéres family since 1874, and is currently in the hands of the 5th generation. The vineyards, olive groves, cork trees, and two streams coexist in Romeu intertwined in a natural way, forming a living mosaic.
They grow 25 hectares of vineyards that are the northernmost in the demarcated Douro region. Although with the robust character of the Douro, they have the elegance and freshness of this unique place. Romeu has a great dedication to the quality of the grape and, in the cellar, everything happens with a minimum of interference. In 2012 the farm was converted to biodynamics. In Romeu, nothing is flat- neither the landscape, nor the climate, nor the people… nor the aromas!
Quinta do Romeu Especial Branco white wine has a yellow color with greenish tinges as a result of 6 days of skin maceration. Fermentation ends in used Austrian oak barrels without toast and is followed by an 18-month batonnage, allowing natural stabilization and clarification.
The nose has notes of orange blossom, beeswax, and dried fruits. It is intense and very complex. Tense and structured, the palate shows character with good volume and acidity, which gives it a very long, persistent, and gastronomic finish. There are citrus notes, white fruit, and minerals.
