What am I: The winemakers say that Chinado Palheto 2019 is the wine they’ve always wanted to make. When they started to take care of this abandoned vineyard with its old vines, they didn't know what to expect, but soon were able to imagine making a wine from there. The mixture of varieties was such that the vineyard diversity was guaranteed, the work was in finding the right maturation point to harvest. White grapes were picked by hand first, mostly in mid-September. The first days of October were when the red grapes were harvested and then went together to the cellar.
The grapes were destemmed and trampled by foot and then left to steep until fermentation started spontaneously. They were later pressed into two used 225-liter barrels. The wine finished the alcoholic fermentation, then the malolactic, and stayed there until bottling in May of 2020. The end result is a fresh straw elegant, intense in the mouth, and drunk fresh like a white or the temperature of a red, always with great pleasure. Chinado Palheto 2019, a unique vineyard wine.
