What am I: Quinta do Mouro takes pride in their bold approach, where science and poetry combine, creating a permanent dialogue and confrontation with some procedures of contemporary enology. Miguel Louro uses manual harvesting and chooses the grapes in the vineyard in their optimal picking status. Grapes are then foot trodden in lagares with separation by variety followed by spontaneous fermentation using indigenous yeasts. Rustic Portuguese oak barrels are used along with the more elegant French barrels, and minimalist artisanal methods are used in the winery, with all of the above preserving the essence of Estremoz’ s unique terroir.
The Vinha do Mouro Tinto is a red wine with a ruby color of medium intensity. There is good aromatic complexity of fresh red fruit, complemented with notes of spice, a light vegetable, and some wood. It is well structured in the mouth, with fine tannins, good freshness, and well-integrated acidity, giving it a vibrant and persistent finish.
